“Everything in nature invites us constantly to be what we are. We are often like rivers: careless and forceful, timid and dangerous, lucid and muddied, eddying, gleaming, still.”
Love this! Within easy reach is the best of both worlds. Living in the third largest city in the US I have access to any need and the good fortune to live and work in the same lovely neighborhood. My beautiful Lake Michigan is across the street where I can swim, sail, walk along the shore. Every highrise, condo, co-op, 6-flat, single family residence has a lovely garden in front and encourages pollinators. Living car-free I experience my surroundings inches away. To just be :)
I can feel your place through your words! And I love that you are able to truly experience your surroundings—simply by paying attention. The few times I’ve been to Chicago, I’ve been stunned by Lake Michigan. Having grown up on the beaches of New England (with its kettle ponds all about) I had no real concept of a lake that feels like an ocean. To water! 💦 💙
I grew up in Europe and the east and west coasts. I fell in love with Chicago as it felt most like Europe.
Interesting…sounds like I need to spend some time there!
I love that you describe her the way I do! I call her the lake that thinks she's an ocean 🌊
She’s in her full power! ⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆
