Interesting, in NZ in Māori culture there is a similar way of giving thanks to all beings around us, including those that have come before etc etc the address that you shared reminded me of that. Interesting how two cultures so far away from each other share those similarities

I'd love to see that prayer! This kind of gratitude comes from deep connection--which was inherently part of all human history--so most, if not all, indigenous cultures have rites of gratitude. We have much to remember from them. Thank you for sharing.

We really do have much to remember from them. Initially I had to get used to the practice but now I find it weird to skip it, it feels right to do show gratitude.

So glad you’re finding a practice in it! 🧡

This is such a powerful way to give thanks. Now our minds are one. I have never heard this prayer/address before. It is beyond beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it and for broadening the horizons for so many of us. We could not be disconnected from the natural world even if we wanted to. We can only ignore it. And if we can ignore something, we can remember it. We can reconnect. Thank you for helping us do that. 🙏🏻

You are welcome. I agree--it's so beautiful and I was excited to share it. I hope it becomes ritual for many. And, you are so right--we have frayed our connection but it remains deeply primal (our survival depends upon it). A remembering is in order. 🧡

This is so welcome at this time of the year, and the connection with gratitude and the natural world deeply resonates. The irony of my writing this while on a laptop at my kitchen table on Thanksgiving Day does not escape me!

I’m happy it resonated and was happy to share this beautiful prayer. Perhaps as @Leigh Fletcher suggested, this will become ritual for you, too!

Wendy - Thank you for sharing this. The way you bring gratitude back into our relationship with the natural world feels grounding. I appreciate the reminder that these everyday gifts are still around us, even when life gets overly busy and noisy. The Thanksgiving Address was a beautiful touch. This was a good read heading into the holiday.
